Propranolol Suspension

Propranolol hydrochloride is a beta blocker that can be used to treat a range of conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, tremors and abnormal heart rhythms. It may also be used to treat infantile hemangiomas. Because many of those taking propranolol struggle with swallowing pills and other solid dosage forms, many health care practitioners recommend alternative dosing options.

If you have been prescribed propranolol and find it difficult to take standard pills or capsules, our compounding pharmacy can help. We can provide you with customized oral suspensions in your required strength with added flavorings to mask the often unpleasant flavor of the basic components of the drug. We can even make your suspension without unwanted ingredients, such as alcohol, sugar, sorbitol and artificial colorings, which can be particularly helpful for sensitive or allergic patients.

Nasal Sprays

Nasal sprays have a pump mechanism that releases a fine mist that can easily be absorbed by the nasal tissues. Nasal sprays can be customized to meet a specific patient’s needs and can be used to deliver many different medications according to your personal needs.

  • Compounded aminocaproic acid nasal spray
This medication is used daily for the recommended treatment period to control and relieve nosebleeds. We will provide you with the specific doses necessary to give you the relief you need and to protect your overall health.
  • Antihistamine sprays
Allergic reactions are triggered by histamines, a chemical your body produces naturally, which causes an inflammatory response. Nasal sprays can be formulated to include antihistamines to block the inflammatory response of the histamines.
  • Corticosteroid nasal sprays
Nasal sprays can be specially compounded to include corticosteroids, which can alleviate allergic reactions, sinusitis, hay fever, sinus pain and other common symptoms.
  • Other types of nasal sprays
Saline nasal sprays are a popular way to moisturize irritated nasal passages and can be used to relieve congestion. In some cases, one or several nasal sprays can be combined for fast-acting results and better delivery.

Zinc Lozenges May Shorten the Duration of Colds: A Systematic Review

A cold’s first symptoms may sneak up on you with a few sneezes or a scratchy throat. A recent systematic review of the available literature revealed that zinc lozenges taken at the first sign of a cold may reduce both the symptoms and duration of the common cold. A total of 13 studies were reviewed, and while some studies had contradictory results, these differences were largely attributed to varying daily doses or the specific formulation of the lozenges. Side effects are mild and can include a bad taste left in the mouth or constipation.

Colds can leave you sneezing, blowing your nose and coughing for as much as a week, but you can take control. Zinc lozenges can provide you with the tools you need to take control. Our compounding pharmacist can provide you with zinc lozenge formulations that can help you kick your cold faster and more comfortably than ever before. We also offer formulations that can provide you with powerful symptom control so that you can function better than ever.

Modified-release sildenafil reduces Raynaud's phenomenon attack frequency in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis.

Raynaud’s phenomenon, or RP, is an uncomfortable or even painful condition that causes an extreme response to temperature changes. Patients with Raynaud’s phenomenon experience blood vessel spasms after exposure to cold or dramatic temperature changes. This spasm can result in color changes in the extremities, numbness and stabbing or tingling pain.

Symptoms can vary based on the severity of the spasm and the length of exposure. Studies have revealed that sildenafil may provide relief from RP. According to one study, patients who used modified-release sildenafil experienced reduced symptoms. Side effects associated with the sildenafil tended to be few and mild. We can provide you with specially formulated sildenafil to control your symptoms for increased comfort regardless of temperature changes.

Topical Glycopyrrolate for Treatment of Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes profound sweating. It generally does not have any health effects, but it can be an embarrassing condition that leads to social difficulties and may reduce a person’s overall quality of life. Hyperhidrosis most frequently occurs in the hands, feet, armpits and face, and each area is considered a distinct disorder. Treatment generally consists of topical glycopyrrolate.

Topical glycopyrrolate is considered to be safe and effective for treating excessive facial sweating and compensatory sweating. The topical solution is applied to the affected area and massaged for 30 seconds. Studies have shown that this medication can significantly reduce sweating with few side effects. We can provide you with topical glycopyrrolate that alleviates your symptoms in the most effective way possible.

Lidocaine 8 Percent Intranasal Spray for Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia is an extremely painful condition that affects thousands of people a year. Patients suffer from significant stabbing or tingling facial pain that is caused by pressure on the trigeminal nerve. The pain can be triggered by normal daily activities, such as makeup application or tooth brushing. Although attacks of pain tend to be short-lived, they can occur many times a day and be both excruciating and disabling as they interfere with critical functions, such as eating or drinking. Treating this type of facial pain requires a highly specialized approach. Lidocaine 8 percent intranasal spray has been shown to be quite effective for patients who are experiencing second-division trigeminal neuralgia. Our pharmacists can provide you with effective solutions for your trigeminal neuralgia. We will work closely with your health care provider to identify a treatment strategy and formulate medications with your specific needs in mind.

Topical Treatment for Chronic Venous Leg Ulcers, Irritation around Stomas, and Diaper Rash

Sucralfate gel is an effective treatment for many common skin conditions, including chronic venous leg ulcers, stoma irritation and diaper rash.

  • hronic venous leg ulcers
Venous leg ulcers are common in elderly patients and can be difficult to treat. Sucralfate is designed to prevent or treat certain gastrointestinal disorders, but it also may be used to treat leg ulcers. One study revealed that patients who were treated with sucralfate gel experienced a significant improvement over the course of the study, and the ulcer size decreased along with the pain and inflammation. A 10 percent solution of sucralfate gel may help contract wounds and promote healing when applied as directed.
  • Stoma irritation
Sucralfate has been found to be effective in the treatment of stoma irritation. It coats the damaged skin to protect it from contamination, and, by keeping the area clean and protected, helps promote healing.
  • Erosive irritant diaper dermatitis
Some types of diaper rash can be extremely difficult to treat. The diaper area is particularly susceptible and is frequently exposed to contaminants, which can increase the risk of infections and other complications. Sucralfate gel may be recommended to treat stubborn cases of diaper rash, provide greater comfort to infants and promote healing of broken or damaged skin.

Low-Dose Naltrexone

Low-dose naltrexone supports immune modulation, which can be particularly effective for inflammatory autoimmune disorders and oncogenic processes. The low-dose naltrexone is designed to affect opioid activity but also helps repair and heal damaged tissues. In some cases, low-dose naltrexone may be recommended to relieve mental health symptoms by promoting stress resilience, emotional well-being and social bonding.

Non-surgical Treatment of Anal Fissure

Anal fissures are tears in the lining of the anus. They can occur on both men and women, young and healthy people and people of all ages. They can also accompany hemorrhoids. Anal fissures can be painful, particularly during bowel movements. While fissures do not cause more serious health problems, they can be quite uncomfortable. Home care is often sufficient to treat minor acute anal fissures. More severe fissures or chronic fissures, which refers to fissures that last more than 6 weeks and do not respond to home treatment, may require more advanced treatment methods.

One common treatment option for chronic anal fissures includes topical nifedipine. Nifedipine can be used alone or combined with botulinum toxin injections. Both treatment regimens have a high rate of success, few side effects and a low recurrence rate. Treating anal fissures with nifedipine, botulinum or nitroglycerin can reduce the need for surgery and reduce the risk of long-term effects that are often associated with surgery.
