Skin Care

Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and keeping it healthy can be important to your overall health. You may not need to pamper your skin, but taking care of it does require a routine or regimen that includes addressing your skin’s unique needs and protecting it from environmental factors. Regardless of your skin’s needs, we can help you keep it on the right track.

Skin Care Analysis

Not all treatments are appropriate for all skin types. A proper analysis is important to identify your skin type and needs. Oily, aging, dry, sensitive and combination skin types all have different needs. Once your skin has been recognized, we can make specific recommendations, including exfoliants, moisturizers and micronutrients.

Antioxidants

Alpha Lipoic Acid, or ALA, and Ascorbyl Palmitate, or vitamin C ester, are critical to collagen formation and your skin cells’ energy production. ALA also helps eliminate intracellular waste, which helps promote healing and deter wrinkling and scarring. Vitamin C ester inhibits the inflammation that is common with certain skin conditions, such as psoriasis, and can help prevent wrinkle formation. These antioxidants can be compounded into a special skin care treatment that keeps your skin plump, resilient and healthy. In some cases, we can even provide you with percutaneous treatments.

Anti-Aging Products

  • Retinol
Retinol helps rejuvenate and renew skin. It can help combat the earliest signs of aging and gently, gradually restore resilience and body to older skin.
  • Exfoliants
Alpha and beta hydroxyl acids may also be helpful. AHAs and BHAs are gentle exfoliants that can slough off old skin cell layers, increase cell turnover and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and fine lines.
  • Amino Acids
Skin can lose tone and begin to sag in midlife. Age spots, fine lines and expression lines also tend to appear around this time. DMAE is a special amino acid that combats these signs of aging and helps boost facial muscle tone. It has a powerful antioxidant effect and can help tone and firm the skin. Studies have demonstrated that daily application of DMAE can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes and near the lips. Long-term application of DMAE is considered to be safe and effective.
  • Chemical Peels
Chemical peels can be a powerful weapon in the fight against the signs of aging. Glycolic acid, kojic acid and TCA can be used alone or combined to slough off old skin cells and reveal the fresher, newer skin beneath. It can also promote the formation of collagen, which leaves skin looking firm and plump, while eliminating certain types of scarring and hyperpigmentation. Our pharmacists can provide you with a chemical peel formulation that is specific to your skin’s needs and can provide you with the maximum benefit without unwanted side effects.

Cellulite

Cellulite is a form of subcutaneous fat that can cause a dimpled appearance to the skin. Cellulite is largely hereditary, which means that if your parents had it, you are more likely to also have it. While exercise and a healthy diet can reduce the appearance of cellulite, they cannot eliminate it. Our pharmacists can provide you with special preparations to reduce the amount of cellulite and improve the overall quality of your skin. Caffeine creams have been found to be particularly effective. Caffeine helps balance fluids between the cells, improve circulation, tighten overall skin tone and stimulate the fat burning process. The right delivery system can make a major difference in the effectiveness of your caffeine cream. High concentrations of caffeine also tend to be more effective than milder versions and can be used all over your body to tighten, tone and smooth like never before.

Sunscreens

Sun exposure has been linked with age spots, premature aging and skin cancer. Protecting your skin from the sun can be one of the best ways to keep it young-looking and healthy. We offer broad-spectrum sun protection that can help keep your skin youthful by combining UVB and UVA ingredients. Our formulations can include titanium dioxide, zinc oxide or oxybenzone, which are proven to protect your skin from the sun, as well as skin-nurturing vitamins C and E for added protection against phototoxic damage.

Discolorations

Skin discolorations are common and can be associated with acne, pregnancy, scarring, cirrhosis or other health issues. Skin discolorations are generally harmless, but many patients find them cosmetically unappealing. We can provide you with special preparations to lighten and adjust these discolorations and provide you with a smoother, natural-looking skin tone. Our preparations are completely customized for your needs and can include glycolic acid, hydrocortisone, tretinoin, azelaic acid or hydroquinone. Because some of these preparations can increase sun sensitivity, we may also recommend that you use a specially formulated sunblock to protect your skin during the treatment period.

Personalized Skin Care

Our compounding pharmacists remain on the leading edge of the field so that they can provide our patients with the treatments and preparations they need to keep their skin healthy, strong and beautiful. We work with you and your dermatologist to provide you with not only the best blend of medications and supplements but also the most effective mechanism for delivery, including gels, creams, lotions and serums. We work to create a cosmetically appealing product without unnecessary or unwanted ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions, discomfort or inflammation. Contact us today to learn more.
